The USA National Deaf Women's Soccer Team will be training this weekend at the Vickrey Center in Pensacola. The men's and woman's USA Deaf National teams are coached by Bayside's own Ken McDonald . The teams play an international schedule, competing at the highest level of soccer against other foreign Deaf National Teams, culminating with the Deaf Soccer World Cup. Coach McDonald coaches the U17 Boys Thunder and U16 Girls Breeze at Bayside Soccer Club.
The USA National Deaf Women's Soccer Team will be playing an exhibition game Saturday, January 31 at 5:30 pm to be held at UWF's main soccer field. Come out and support these world class athletes.
Look for the Men's team to be training in the Pensacola area at the end of February.
UPDATE:
January 30, 2009 - February 1, 2009, sixteen players from the USA National Deaf Soccer Team trained in Pensacola with Bayside's Coach Ken McDonald. Saturday, January 31, 2009, Team USA met on the pitch at The University of West Florida for an exhibition game with a united team of players comprised of over twenty select high school players from Escambia, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties. The United Team was coached by Carl Everitt of Emerald Coast United (ECU). The exhibition game was facilitated by UWF Head Coach Joe Bartlinski and refereed by local Coaches Peter Stephens and Kenny Morgan. Many thanks to all the local participants for their help in making this training camp a success.
